Tight Jeans

Image
What is the film about: Three black teenagers are becoming frustrated while waiting for their friend. A young white lad walks past wearing super tight jeans. The boys look on until one of them asks the pivotal question, "How can a man wear jeans that tight?" This sparks a hilarious debate about race and culture. The Arrival

Image
Directed by Daniel Montanarini  Produced by Zen Design Studio  Made in the UK This 4 minute short film is about a young women who is contemplate wether to or not to keep her baby, while waiting for her lover to arrive in a small cafe.  I really enjoyed this short film as I thought it exhibited very cleaver use of lighting, location and sound, because these three things were done so well the film felt so immersive and professional. The use of one actor and a short narrative allowed this film to focus on small details which allows the film to have high quality sound, cinematography and setting. Overall I think its a fantastic example of a good short film, I also think it inspired many people in my class for their own ideas.

The Fly Short Film.

Image
The short 6 minute film is about an uptight getaway driver waiting outside a bank robbery has three nerve shredding minutes to get through before his crew returns. All he has to do is focus. Director: Olly Williams Writer:  Olly Williams Star: Jack Doolan The Fly from Short of the Week on Vimeo . Notes from the video: Personally I love the video, I love the clean look it has to it and how clever it is with making it seem like it has a much larger budget than it actually has. One example is the clever sound design for example the opening 5 seconds is a behind the stage sound which sets up the context of the setting and what is going on without having to use any extras or any other actors. The film has a very clean look to it with not many complex shots or ground breaking CGI it is still very practical and doable for a small film crew. The clever use of shot types makes this one location feel a lot bigger than it is. One of my favourite shots ...

On the weekend I went to visit the Richard Mosse 180 strand exhibition.  The exhibition takes you deep in the heart of the Brazilian Amazon, there was an immersive video installation created from his  three years filming in the world's largest rainforest.  A selection of the artist’s photographs from the project were displayed alongside the installation, including large-scale photographs that have not been exhibited in the UK before. Mise en scene - Comparative essay

Compare how the  aesthetics of mise en scene  have been designed to generate  spectator response  in the  two  films you have studied. You must refer to examples from  one  film from  1930– 1960   in your answer and examples from one film from   1961-1990 .  [35]   INTRO: introduce both films.    P1: (Dawn of Man) (Film Premiere) – Colour pallet/atmosphere (Dawn of man: natural, warm colours, set, tone, natural look), (Film Premiere: unnatural lights, bright spotlights, bright colours), Spectacle   P2: (Deactivation of HAL) ( You Were Meant For Me ) – Dialogue (Deactivation of HAL:  very little dialogue or sound effects in the whole scene, the main sounds we can hear are all diegetic which are: Dave's breathing, and HAL trying to convince Dave to stop, HALs speech starts to slow as he becomes disconnected ,  HAL singing daisy daisy “I’m half crazy” this could possibly connote towards how H...
